I was born in Kansas City, the son of a civil rights lawyer and the grandson of a Holocaust refugee. I grew up with a sense of gratitude and pride in my country for taking us in and saving our lives, yet also keenly aware that injustice still exists. When the time came for me to make my mark in the fight for progressive values and justice, I chose the career of a campaign professional. For the next 20 years, I worked campaigns big and small, serving a wide variety of progressive causes and candidates.
